"Old Glory" Stained Glass WindowI took a picture of a flag blowing in the wind while visiting Washington DC and used that as inspiration for this stained glass American Flag window. The first picture was taken in our Brooklyn, NY Studio and if you look closely in the distance is the Statue of Liberty. This piece was 20" x 20" and was constructed using copper foil. Some of the detail was done by sandblasting flashed glass. Flashed glass is a two layer glass, one thicker in this case clear, with a thinner layer, in this case blue, on top. The thinner layer of glass can be etched away completely as we did here, or more subtly creating different shades of the color.
